Deep Fried Butter @ the Puyallup fair

Post by BASSMAN »

Anyone try this yet? :smt064 :burntchef:

From what I've found out, it's actually real butter, with a crispy coating!

It's like deep-fried ice cream. They chill the butter until it's really, really cold, dip it in some kind of batter, and very quickly deep-fry it. I have heard it's delicious, but the very thought of it makes my arteries quiver in terror.

He/she who goes to the fair and worries about calories or fats is going to have a very rough time! :smt064

One day a year you just gotta do it and not think about it. :smt064

I have heard that the deep fried butter is awesome and the elephant ears and the fry bread and, and, and. Oh yes we can't forget the strawberry shortcake! :stir:

Fairs should be outlawed! Everything there is either bad for you or just plain to expensive. :nutty:

Chocolate-covered bacon sounds horrible at first, but so did salted chocolate-dipped caramels, and we know where THAT ended up. Or at least, I know which end it ended up on . . .

Have you ever had fried bacon? Best thing ever....though I could swear I felt years coming off of my life span

Confirmed.

...but I volunteer to re-confirm this next year. For science, of course.

Let's see, so far I have had.
Chocolate dipped bacon, good will eat more.
Chocolate covered Twinkies, just fair as I don't care for Twinkies.
Chocolate coated ants, better than they sound.
Chocolate dipped peppers, also good, but won't have more.
Chocolate dipped lime wedge, very very good, but chewy.
Chocolate coated picked, dried ginger, very good, but I enjoy ginger.
Chocolate coated candied ginger, way to freaking tangy and sweet.
And of course the usual, rasins, various nuts, and assorted fruits.
Deep fried crap is just plain bad for ya!
Pop tarts and gravy,
It's what's for breakfast.

Oh, come on now! That is an old farm practice. Fry the bacon...Use the remaining liquid to cook the eggs...Be sure to baste the eggs with the liquid...After transferring the bacon and eggs to the serving plate use the remaining liquid to brown toast...Pour off any remaining to use for cooking later. Lots cheaper and more flavorful than lard.

Doesn't plug the arteries...lubricant to keep the blood moving...helps keep the heart muscle in shape as it works a bit harder.

Agreed, that is why we eat Cracklins.

I'm with dusty. Sometimes you just have to let your hair down and eat garbage! I eat veggies and white meat and run 30 miles a week, but when the fair comes to town, I will kill a few dough boys (elephant ears to you washington folk), and a huge basket of those greasy curly fries, smothered in that sweet and salty ketchup hooked up to a 5 gallon pump! I can't say fried butter sounds very appealing though lol. Deep fried snickers bars were legit though...thanks Fort Benning! haha
If it's stupid and it works, it ain't stupid!
