dusty's place

Post by deep diver »

Met up with Rich today at his favorite place and we had a real nice dive. Lots of pictures, but it was nice to see lots of new life starting to develop. The baby sculpin is about 1" long. Quite a few gunnels of different colors and lots of grunts from 1" - full grown as this bright orange guy. We had about 30' visibility. Saw several clown nudi's one of which was the biggest I've ever seen. Haven't seen them for awhile as they seem to be gone from the canal right now. Lots of schools of fish hanging on the barge. Great day, thanks again, Rich.

I too enjoy diving with the old guy. What is the nudi in the last picture?

It's a barnacle-eating nudibranch, Onchidoris bilamellata, I'm pretty sure.

I'd love to do Point Hudson in 30 feet of viz! There are some lovely opportunities for wide-angle shots there if the water is that clear. But it's a good dive, even when it's murky.

There's nothing I miss more than Pt Hudson...sigh. Yes, barnacle-eating nudi in that last picture! I hope you said hi to the wolf eels in the pilings, and let the lumpsuckers know I didn't *mean* to abandon them...
