Not an WWW Arm-Chair Diver

Post by fpoole »

(posting as the other may be lost somewhere - can't find it)

Howdy all,
just another diver looking for a group that likes to dive the Great Nor'West and has not turned to the "Dark Side" of becoming an only WWW (Warm Water Wussie) Diver.

Love diving up here, been diving since '86? Yikes, time does fly. Started in Pasadena, Ca, diving Catalina and the Dive boats down there (La Bufadora, Mexico), moved up here in '89.

My first dive was in a wet suit, in the warm night breezes of Dec? at 3 Tree South. Mud & Muck all the way down, HIT bottom at 110' (gets deeper each time I tell it) found an old Volkswagen (fergit?) and noticed some old Saucers (tea cups and Saucers type)... underneath.. couldn't figure out what the heck??? looked closer..... and.... it.... moved... Yikes.... my first encounter with the GPO... from then on it's been a new experience... and will continue to be...

I like to do Dive Campouts - if you ever go camping you'll want to bring me along - I have all the stuff to the point that it's embarrasing, have hit most of the Canadian Sites although there are a few on the list, Comex - d'plane, de'plane, and like locale diving as well, but not jumping in on currents nor "Krap-vis" days.. been there, done that thanks...

I like taking pictures and if there are some Photogs around, I would enjoy tagging along.... we may not make the best buddies around but you'll probably get your picture taken...

Well that's probably enough for now.... I see a lot of familiar names and would like to thank Janna for referring me here... Although I do remember when it just started, thought it was just for a few people, dive buddies back then...

Anyway, I hope I can help make this a fun site, Calvin Gave me a "Hall Pass" so I'm good to go...

Cheers...
~~~~~
Thanks Val... kewl picture frame.. LOL...
Welcome to the site! Always good to have another Ballard diver on board! (I'm actually Crown Hill, but Ballard is part of Crown Hill)
I took a quick look at your sites- they look pretty neat- I'll check them out more later.
Dive Campout?!? :bounce: Did someone say Dive Campout?!? :bounce:
Where? :bounce: When? :bounce: Let's see, there's the Straights, um... San Juan's, I've heard rumors of Lopez... :bounce: I don't like to jump in on currents either... although I'm still new enough to put up with "Krap-vis" days! \:D/
Welcome Frank! Seems like you're well connected... Can't wait to meet you!
Jackie - Obviously so much fun that you repeated yourself!!!
hehe :)
Frank, really glad to see you popped onto our little surface interval amusement board. :)
AND, I will see you on Tuesday at Moss Bay Dive Club's meeting for the Invasive tunicate workshop! Frank's going to be my trusty assistant that night.
For those of you who didn't know, one of Frank's many hidden talents is that he's been instrumental in getting photographs of most of the invasive tunicates and many experts in the field have used his photos in their work.
Welcome again, Frank!!!
Tom,
thanks much... yup, dive campouts, used to do them all the time.. Hoodsport, Campbell river, Powell River and Lopez islands. Will post them as I get them or people are interested. Not usually during the summer "Crowded" season, usually before or after, will post them
A few are located over here:
http://www.poolesdive.com/pages/gallery.html
(click on the campout ones - or Hoodsport)
Jackie
Jackie, whoops.. which one do I reply to?? heheh... the other one???
Yes, I'd like to do some photo dives, let me know when you all plan one.. I've got some dives coming up, Keystone and Hoodsport In June that would be great for photos.. will post them when I look up the dates.. both in June. It' good to dive with other Photogs, Same ocean, Same day eh??
thanks for the welcome...
Janna,
Again thanks for the heads up to here... Will be posting some dives here soon and hopefully find someone to dive with...
Janna keeps me busy, looking for things... having problems trying to keep my fish ID system simple as she keeps educating these other divers on the real names... so I try to keep her on her toes... heheh..... \:D/
See you Tuesday... after a few beers, I can run any laptop... hic... whoops... what blue screen..zap...
cheers...
I'm not supposed to tell, but a dive bubby is 1/3 of a threesome... :book:
