ID for me please, an eel

Post by nice-diver »

Did a night dive and these little guys were all over. He's about 5-7 inches long and I have seen them longer; my dive buddy calls it a monkey eel. Pic taken in Florence north jetty.

thanks

Not quite an eel...but cool to see out in the open. They often hide under and inside of things.
Happy Diving!

thanks,
they were all over on the floor near the jetty rocks, s'd up in little dents in the sandy bottom, the first one I seen in january was about a foot long.

I probably seen about 30 of them, sometimes in pairs.

Its a gunnel....
SOME PEOPLE ARE LIKE SLINKIES..... THEY ARE NOT REALLY GOOD FOR ANYTHING ... BUT THEY STILL BRING A SMILE TO YOUR FACE WHEN YOU PUSH THEM DOWN A FLIGHT OF STAIRS

Way to hide the ID in the Subject line Huskychemist.

You could have made it easy and just put it in the message body. Who uses a subject on a reply any way?

For those who want to see it nice and easy, Lowell says it is a Crescent Gunnel Pholis laeta.
