Cove 2 9/7. A hazy 10' between 20-60'. Less where there were students. I heard it got worse at depth.

Yesterday I showed up at Redondo with two students who had drove all the way up here from Portland. As we were gearing up ... after we'd each purchased four hours worth of parking ... I had two separate groups tell me not to bother, that you had to get deeper than this class was going in order to be able to see each other. We packed it in and rescheduled for week-end after next ... hoping for better vis then ...

cove2 last night = craptastic. 5' at best. I used it as an opportunity to work on lighting in low vis conditions. (see video in 'video section')

5-10 feet would be generous for Alki Rock Piles and China Wall at Blakely Rock yesterday.

Dove Redondo Sat night with Scubie Doo: vis was 5' or less all the way down to the carousel boat. We didn't bother to venture any deeper.

We momentarily "lost" each other during our safety stop under the MaST. Was humorous in a sad sort of way to realize we were never more than 3' apart the whole time. We both blocked our lights at the same time to "look" for each other, turned - and nearly kicked each other's masks off.

Sund Rock: 9-10-2014. 6:30pm, high tide.
Good! A little hazy from 15-25ft, but opens up nicely below that to about 15-20ft viz.

Second weekend in a row I need to reschedule a class. Vis at Redondo last night was 3 to 5 feet all the way down below 80 fsw. Good enough to dive ... maybe ... but I won't teach a class in conditions like that.

I talked to our club dive coordinator who is at Mike's Beach today. He said it opened up pretty good after 40' on the first dive.

Sund rock Saturday afternoon 9/13 above 35 fsw 10-15, below 40 fsw 20-30. Below 130 fsw 15-20. Glad we decided on the hood canal. The thermal cline around 35 fsw was pronounced, at least a 10 degree drop in water temperature.

Redondo today high tide was 5' or less - terrible. There was a bitnof Redondo rived flowing south to north. I heard that this morning it was better.
