Shallower dives = increased dive time. Deeper dives are darker dives, too. Especially this time of year. I have a light but I've yet been able to justify dropping hundreds of scuba units on a flashlight. [-X

Yes I am another shallow man :bootyshake: and I only have this little thingy for a light right now. Most would call it their backup light I think but hey it does stay light out late this time of year.I wonder would my two bright halogen lights work if I bring a long enough extension cord :la:

Even if it is a small light, bring it with you and turn it out throughout your dive (leave it on). It is hard for your buddy to keep track of you as the water darkens if your light is off. I'm sure we'll find people who will have plenty of light for you to see with too, but you need to have something on so they can see you.

... and if you need a bit more light in the shallows, just bang your tank 4 times and I'll shine mine up all the way from the i-beams through the gunk. It should give you more than enough light. :supz:

Well, let's not be unreasonable about how much light someone needs... my light is a humble 35 watts.

(Sounder feverishly searches the internet to ensure there isn't a 55 watt that isn't specific to video... :smt024)

I'm going to be bringing two lights - one is mr. sounder's. He may want that back eventually, but I think anyone can use it for this dive ;)

Btw - how many people are interested in testing the NuCanoe? I can get there early or stay later if people just want to give it a spin getting in/out. I don't have a tether rope so it's more for just trying exits/entrances.

Having NEVER been on a kayak (I know it's a canoe), I would just like to watch the Nucanoe in action.

Anybody looking for six-gills tonight or is that just a gimme?

I'll just warn you...when Doug switches on his light it makes a sound like a light sabre firing up.

I'm lookin' for Yoda with this thing. :smt027

(Crap! Look what time it is. I've got to roll. Hope I'm seeing you in 30 minutes or so.) :pale:

We had a great club dive, and very good turnout (10-15 people), especially considering that the Treasure Hunt was the following day.

Grateful Diver, Cheng, Sounder, and myself showed up early and did a nice 60+ minute dive before the main group showed up.

Bnboly and I teamed up for a 60 minute dive as everyone else was diving.

The pizza was good, the diving was good, the company and conversation was good! :supz: Thanks everyone! \:D/

I'll leave others to fill in their own dive reports.

There was a ton of "schmutz" in the water, so viz was not good at all. A few pictures that I took are here

I found this gorgeous little Longfin Sculpin in the shallows at the end of my second dive.

This Decorated Warbonnett conveniently decided to pose for it's picture! He was just beautiful....

All in all a great couple of Summer dives at Alki! :rr:

I had a nice dive as well!

I enjoyed meeting you all, and the pizza afterwards was a treat!

The NuCanoe was much bigger then I thought!

Although I'm terrible with names I too had a great time and finally got to put a face to some avitars.

I can't wait to participate in another club dive.

Some folks are saying though, that vis was bad but at depth I don't think it was that awfull, I must be tooo used to diving in poor vis.

Saw my first octo, a red, that was really cool. I can't wait to return.

Nice to finally meet some of you.
Looking for dive buddies

Work is for the surface interval....

Sorry for the late reply! I had a great time to, but I was unable to stick around for the pizza. Saw my first ever stubby squid this night and more opalescent nudi's than I've ever seen.

Jeff (pogiguy05) you were a great buddy and I'd be happy to dive with you again if you need another buddy!

Thanks Erik and yes I am always up for diving and in need of a dive buddy. I would like to get more dives so that I can take the advanced OW course and I also have a free nitrox class to take also. For now Sunday,Monday, and Tuesday afternoons after 3-4pm are good for me. Just let me know when you can dive and I be happy to go. As long as it is not a current dependant thing for now.

The diving was awesome, and I had a great buddy =D Chris...dunno your screenname on here though :P Can't wait for hood canal, although I've just (within the last hour) had an extra problem thrown in the loop which I'll be adding to the hood canal thread here...but I'll still be able to make some of it!

I'm pretty rotten with names, too, but I had a great time! It was wonderful to put some faces with some posts.

If I forget your names, I apologize in advance. :)

I saw a stubby squid, too...I wonder if it was the same one?
