Beer rankings

Post by YellowEye »

Hi
http://www.msn.com/en-us/foodanddrink/f ... ocid=fbmsn

Sculpin IPA ranked 3rd best beer this year. I've tried it, it is good (but expensive)

Anybody tried the rest of these?

Whoever did the rankings clearly has a thing for IPAs. Not my kind of beer.

I have had the Dogfish Head 90 IPA and really liked it. Haven't tried any of the others although I have had other offerings by several of the top ten contenders. I am going to have to hunt down Pliny the Elder and try it.

Pliny is a classic, though there are many other IIPAs that now have similar flavor profiles. Stone's Enjoy By is high on my IPA list.

Truth is, there are a zillion craft beers out there in every style and taste is really a matter of personal preference, as always.

My list of favorites is pretty short:

1) Coors Light

Pliny is no longer leaving cali, they just don't make enough to bother. Try hop valley citrus mistress, just as good if not better and easy to find.

The sculpin line if beers is way overpriced I think.

I struggle to fully appreciate bottled beer, so my favorites tend to be frothy right off the tap. Number uno in a very long and wide list is McMenamins Hammerhead. Elkhead Brewing IPA. Elliot Bay Coffee Stout. Lucky Labradors Dog Day IPA. Fanno Creek Farmhouse Belgian. Elkhead Brewing Royal Stout. Big Sky Brewing Montana Mauler amber. A no longer available Couer'D Alene Centennial Pale.
For bottles, Redhook ESB, Youngs Double Chocolate Stout, Mac and Jack amber.

We get Pliny often down here in PDX. And citrus mistress is good, but I wouldn't say it's similar to Pliny other than it is a hoppy beer.
