You are using a Canon 5d, correct? If so, I assume you are using a tripod, correct? Do you mind sharing your tripod setup? I've tried to get video, but it has been very difficult to (1) focus and (2) keep steady.

This octopus was in an engine block off a private residence on Brace Point it was the biggest Red Octo I've ever seen. At first glance i thought was a young GPO
This was shot with a Canon 5DMK2 in a Subal Housing with a flat port and 100mm Macro lens (non-L) I used an xit404 tripod base with short light arms (~4"'?) as opposed to the fancy, purpose built but more expensive adjustable arms, because I had those laying around from when I switched to extra buoyancy arms :
