Disney's Epcot "Living Seas" diving opportunity

Post by Smoke Diver »

Greetings from Florida my fellow Washingtonian’s. My family and I are down here doing the Disney World thing. It's vacation time O' year. I had to pass on this once in a life time experience to any and all. Some of you may also be on your way down here to do a family vacation. My son and I did an incredible dive in the Epcot "Living Sea' Aquarium. It's a 6 million gallon tank with simulated coral reefs. 27' deep. Some of the inhabitants include an 8' Sand Tiger shark, 400 lb. Sea turtle, various other reef sharks (apprx. 4-5 '), various large rays, groupers, and thousands of other assorted reef fish. You will be given free access to the tank . Its not crowed at all (only nine divers at a time). It'll take about 8 minutes to swim around the entire perimeter of the tank. It's that large. The actual dive is 45 minutes with HP steel 80. The entire experience is apprx. 3 hours. Back lot tour of aquarium, tour of their labs, video presentation, predive brief, dive, post dive brief, etc. All gear is provided (even anti- fog). Cost is $140.00 however if you are Naui or Padi let them know on the phone because you'll get a 10% discount. ALL proceeds go to the Disney conservation fund (they'll give a 5 minute talk about it). Because of this your fee is 100% tax deductible. I have included a link. This is not promoted much. You have to really be looking for it to find info. on this opportunity. So if any of ya are heading this way this Summer...YOU HAVE TO DO THIS!

I did that when I was a new diver, and had a fabulous time. The whole experience really is something else, and if I have time on my Florida trip this fall I may try to do it again. Can't recommend it enough.

That looks sweet.. I think when I head to Florida for the Harry Potter theme park opening late 2009 I am going to have to check that out.
