A bunch of us just back from a great trip of diving and underwater photography in the Channel Islands in California. It was a great trip!

It was a great trip!

Also seen were dolphins, lots of cool seabirds, amazing purple bright hydrocolals, lobster, octos, a fleeting moment of a ray, Spanish shawls, etc

Seen by others included horn sharks, huge kelp sea bass, frigeheads, banded shrimp and a wolf eel(!)

We got to meet a bunch of great people, old and new friends.

Had the best time ever. Saw so many new creatures! I loved watching the Garibaldi and kelp bass, my favorites :joshsmith: I also really loved the kelp forests, those were cool. Ooooh! And the sea lions were epic! They were so cute!

Got to see some neat lobsters. There were not a lot of shrimp, crab or nudis! Only 1 shrimp, a few nudis, and a few hairy hermit crabs were to be found.

I hit dive #200 on this trip! Now up to 211, Calvin!

I noticed several pictures of brittle stars, how about other seastars? Were they present?

Hello Curt,

No not really, we saw a few leather stars and maybe 5 other stars total the whole trip. Only the Brittle stars were thriving. It was strange that there weren't many nudis around either. There were some pretty big purple urchins, but not as many as the urchins at Keystone.

I'm totally jealous. Your pix are great. I look forward to hearing more about this trip during a visit to Billy McHales.
