ThThTh 12/10

Howdy Folks
DerekCs and I went on a nice dive for ThThTh 12/10. We ended up going to Alki Junkyard. I'm glad we did - it was a fun dive I haven't done in way too long!

Sightings included: quite a few market squid (throughout the whole dive), sea spiders, seapens, hooded nudibranchs, a red sausage jelly, brooding anemones, leather stars, alibasters, a small octo, etc!

I think the squid might be getting ready to mate, as they were very "friendly". We saw 3 egg sacs.

Viz wasn't too bad!

We went to the Copper Coin, also with ScubaJess afterwards! Good burgers, good beer, and happy hour specials!

Those are really nice pictures YellowEye!!! That shrimp in the eggs pile is so awesome! I'm sad I missed the sea spiders & all those squid! I like the texture on the Seapen & your sausage jelly is really cool!! I love watching those guys!

It was so hard for me not to jump in last night. I will have to get my computer battery fixed today!

& Hopefully I feel better next time! I had fun being shore support. Here are a few of my shots, my phone does not work so well in low light.

It was a very fun dive. It's been years since I've seen sea spiders, and I don't think I've ever seen a snailfish. Taking a crack at the ID... lobefin snailfish???

Sea Spiders seem to be a regular occurrence at that site for some reason!

I've heard you say that before. I've only dove there once though. Are paired with anything? Kelp, shells, etc???

See the busy-looking brushy stuff underneath the sea spider in the pic? They live in that stuff!

We saw them between 40 and 60 feet. Mostly, I see them out from the condos and a bit to the left, but we also saw one straight above the rope reef yesterday.

I can help you find one some time if you like, because I really enjoyed that dive as a macro night dive and want to go back soon!
