Alki Junkyard 1/17

Post by YellowEye »

Howdy
SJ and I went to Alki Junkyard today.

Sights included: a juvi wolfie in a pipe, a medium gpo in a pipe, a kelp greenling guarding eggs, one alabaster nudi (the only nudi on the whole dive), lots of sea spiders, a couple leather stars, one brooding anemone, a couple bay pipefish and one poacher. Not as much as I typically see here!
There look to be eggs growing inside the spider's legs! (zoom in)

This small poacher was mouthing at me!

Hope everyone's having a great weekend (despite the Hawks loss and some less than ideal dive weather in some places...)

The spider closeup is cool. You can see something in the legs. I read their organs are in their legs. Pretty cool. I'll have to give some super macro a shot next time. :)

Yeah, I was surprised -- they look like eggs!
Kind of like you see eggs in shrimp legs.

Are you guys going up to going there some Thursday night (tides allowing) or do we need to make it a weekend?

Tides this Thursday night there look a little on the low/strong side! Feb 4 looks a bit better
