Beached(for a while)
Beached(for a while)
Another life change for me. We just sold our boat Windwalker. I don't want to overstate it, but it feels like a big deal. For over 50 years I have been going to sea: Navy, merchant marine, or yachting. This is the first time in 45 years that we haven't owned a boat, and it has been our second home for the last few years. I know I have been blessed to be able to wake up at anchor in places such as Winter Cove pictured below and to wander up and down the coast. Another boat may be in our future when I recover from recent round of surgery. While getting old is a privilege, it has its inconveniences.

Hope you get well, at least you got plenty of memories to carry you through till the next boat. I like your outlook on life

"While getting old is a privilege, it has its inconveniences."...funny how I was just speaking of this today. Getting older is better than the alternative. We are all sharing our aging experiences and there is no handbook...
Just be glad that you have another day...

I only lived on my boat 10 years Curt but I understand. Granted I did keep the dingy because I couldn't be boat less. Hope you are back afloat soon.

Re: Beached(for a while)
I feel for you Curt. When my trauma put a pause that looks more and more like an end to my SCUBA I also lost the home I had built off the road system. It was 22 miles from the road system. When we went there it was Alaska Wilderness. My wife and I cleared the land. I built a house there and spent much time over the next 23 years there. Often the nearest other human was miles away.
Not the same, but the same. We have both coped with big and little things and will continue to do so until our time runs out. I tell the youngsters that life is nothing but a series of problems that need solving. Sooner of later we all will encounter a problem we can't solve. Until then we will live as bright a life as we can.
Take care
