Warhawk Dive This Summer?

Post by edekema »

My brother-in-law and me are looking to dive the Warhawk wreck , located in Discovery Bay, this summer. We're looking for a few other divers that might be interested in joining the adventure. I have never been to this wreck, so I'm just starting to put together a plan and figure out how to get it done. Let us know if you are interested.

Thanks! Ed

We usually go do Ed's fault and the warhawk in winter when other sites are iffy weatherwise. I don't mind bringing new divers to these places but you''ll have to remind me next Jan/Feb timeframe. Not much left of the warhawk, it burned then sank >100yrs ago. Mostly ballast stones and a small section of hull at this point.

I'd love to do it, schedule permitting (I'll be around in August). We'll need a boat.

Like Capt'nJack said, combining it with Ed's Fault would be a great dive day.

So, is the Warhawk with the time and planning?

Sure, it's a fun dive along with Ed's Fault.

Here is some footage from when we did it back in January...

Its not a big plan kinda thing. The boat ramp is the biggest factor to plan around. Its not very usable at low tide. Otherwise both sites are benign and low current. May depth on Ed's fault (which is really a sloped wall) is 90ft. The warhawk, maybe 32ft. Discovery Bay is sensitive to south winds but those are fairly predictable and its a downwind ride home to the ramp.

That was a frosty day! Like I said we go out there in winter and can take you sometime if you want to wait that long.
