Earlier this month, I traveled to God's Pocket for the first time. The trip was a photo workshop run by friend of YellowEye and ScubaJess, Richard Salas. Needless to say, Bill and Annie run an excellent operation. Will have to get back there soon. Although the sun was out for maybe a day and a half in total, the viz was excellent on all but maybe 2 of 15 day dives. Lot of Puget Sound king crabs and red Irish lords. One dive had so many Irish lords that while looking at one I accidentally rested right on top of another one and got smacked on my leg. Loads of basket stars. China, yellowtail, quillback, Puget sound, and black rockfish were all pretty abundant. Huge sea lemons and orange peel nudis. Only one wolf eel. No GPOs except a juvenile (I think) on one of the night dives.
The photo workshop was really good. It was interesting to talking to someone from a background of shooting on film and not as obsessed with documentary-style photography. Richard had great advice for photographers of all skill levels. And the way the dives were set up, it made it easy to really work on getting a great shot. Worked out really well. Richard also told me to tell Eric that all his photos will look much better if he crops them to a square shape.

Tell him his photos will look better with closed anemones.

No, Eric. All the closed anemones have to be airbrushed out!YellowEye wrote:derekcs wrote: Richard also told me to tell Eric that all his photos will look much better if he crops them to a square shape.
