Viz Reports Thread
Re: Viz Reports Thread
Point Whitney, Brinnon, 7/3: 6 feet, at best, above 50ft. Below 50ft -- and a raging thermocline -- it opened up to 25+ ft. Sweet!
Re: Viz Reports Thread
Had probably 25-30ft at Junkyard yesterday 7/2. Was quite surprised, actually.
Re: Viz Reports Thread
7/3/2017 Day Island Wall was quite nice, variable, but mostly 25' or so! Titlow was the same, and just magical with the sunlight streaming through the pilings!

Sat 7-8-17. Port Townsend waterfront
Hazy, snotty, gnarly viz, less than 10' with lots of floaties.

7/16 Sund Rock.
The water looked extremely teal today from shore .
~5ft above 25ish and over 20ft at depth. It was rather chilly 49 degrees out by the sea whips

Anyone know how the vis is looking around Sund rock or Les davis? Trying to decide where to take a new diver tomorrow
Re: Viz Reports Thread
Sund Rock typically has better viz this time of year.

Sund was really good below 60 fsw or so this last month, but with a newer diver doing a deeper profile might be less desirable??
Although.... we discovered by accident that diving Les Davis at the end of a large EBB pulled much of the river silt out into the bay and at times resulted in almost spectacular viz at Les Davis.
Sadly, the chances of really good viz in the inner sound right now are pretty slim. I'd consider trying Three Tree on a higher tide as well, usually better than Redondo.

7/22 Mukilteo at the site of future ferry dock.
Vis at surface 0 vis at -10 was 2 feet.
We had to swim a long way out to get to deeper water where the vis opened up to about 20 feet once you got below -50.
Water temp was very warm 54F.

Sund Rock on Tuesday was 0 viz down to 35-40 ft. Opened up to 5-7 ft between 40-50 ft. Below 50 ft, we had about 10-12 ft. But, the surface of the water was a spectacular color due to the coccolithophore bloom right now.

Monday 7/31, Alki Cove 2: A little choppy at the surface (shallower than 15fsw), but ~15ft of visibility deeper than 15 or 20fsw. Barely needed my light for the first dive, in 60fsw.
Re: Viz Reports Thread
Fox Island West Wall was murky above 20 faq. Below that it was 15 to 20, and lots of life.
East Wall was variable 5 to 15, lots of swirlies.

Aug-5 Mukilteo - Gnarley haze layer at ~20-25'-ish, below that viz opened up to 20' and was probably 30' at 130' deep.
