Advice on Regulators

Post by Scubie Doo »

Hello fellow scuba divers. I am interested in purchasing some new regulators. I am interested in some good cold water regs. I currently dive Apeks XTX50 and I like them, but they are older. I also dove the Sherwood Maximus for a long time. Both are good regs, but looking to get myself into a new set. So far I am thinking about the following:

Scubapro S600
Atomic M1
Sherwood Blizzard
Mares Abyss
Halcyon Halo

Any thoughts on these regs or throw others out there.

Thanks
Scubie

In the ScubaPro line, the classic cold water regs would be a Mk17 or Mk25 paired with a G250(v), G260 or A700. As a bonus, these can be found and serviced in most places around the world.

I dive with the ScubaPro mk25 and G260 setup. Love it and I've never had an issue with them.

I would stick with the Apeks you have, none of the listed will perform better than them anyway.
If you really just want something new, the scubapro or atomics would be my choice - but I have a preference for piston regs.
