What is this little guy?

I saw a couple of these little guys over memorial day weekend in the shallows at Madrona Wall on Vancouver Island. I am thinking it is some sort of very juvenile gunnel or prickleback, but I really have no idea. It was about the size of a dime and really colorful.

A worm, not sure what kind without my id book.

Hope you had fun!

I've only dove that site once before. Right during the herring spawn. Needless to say the viz wasn't too good... We never found the wall!

Greetings,

I think that it's a White-Lined Ribbon Worm (Quasitetrastemma nigrifrons) http://www.marinespecies.org/nemertea/p ... pic=117171

It is described on page 69 of Beneath Pacific Tides by Greg Jensen and on page 120 of Marine Life of the Pacific Northwest by Andy Lamb (under an older name).

Hope this helps,
Alex

I think you are correct! I thought for sure that those were poorly developed eyes on the end.
