TONIGHT AT REDONDO (NOV 5 )

Post by cardiver »

Navigator and I had a nice dive at Redondo tonight. Viz was about 20 fsw and no current to speak of. Please check out the pics on my page and if someone can id the egg mass in pics 13 and 14 I'd appreciate it.

I just assumed it was an egg sack. Tunicate was my second guess. We saw two of them. Both on the rock wall by the vw.

Thanks, Cera! He ( or she) was a big one who swam right up on my light during our safety stop.

Don't sell yourself short Ron...

You had some awesome shots on previous dives.
I've seen your pictures.

This one I was just lucky to get that damn autofocus in the right object. :supz:

Not a good angle to tell if it is a he or a she, but, I would lean towards a she.

Ratfish are easy to sex. The males not only have the tell-tell claspers (finger-like projections) back by the anal fin, but they also have an appendage on their foreheads called a tenaculum. The forehead appendage will actual become "erect" (kind of flips up) when the males are excited.
