Which Atomic reg would you rather have - a B2 or M1???

Poll ended at Tue Sep 16, 2008 9:43 pm

M1 for its versatility- and because it appears meaner on paper [or on the screen].

B2 because it (i) has a swivel hose and (ii) doesn't bark.

Poll: Atomic Regs B2 or M1???

Post by babs13 »

I think the M1 is great for versatility, but I'm not sure why the B2 seems to have more praise...other than for the swivel hose and more titanium. I'm a beginning diver hoping to (i) see more critters marinating in the depth and (ii) exlplore the technical realm. :smt119
Step 1: I have a diving problem.

titanium actually doesn't mix well with O2, but it's still great for marketing. My B2 breathes a little better but the swivel is annoying when you want to swap out the hose.

Why an Atomic in the first place? There are a lot of great regs out there that are much cheaper.

I dive B2's and love them. The swivel is a PITA, but it can be fixed and kept "clean" by ordering a "spacer" to fill the gap on the male-end of the regulator/hose connection when changing the hose (I didn't want the swivel).

The titanium is meant to reduce weight for travel, but I've found that the weight isn't that big of a deal... around here, you're looking at needing weight anyway so why minimize it?

If I had to it again, I'd most likely get the stainless Atomic regs.

Apeks or Atomic seems like a good debate, that's why I carry them both!

They're my two 1st picks. Not sure which one I'd choose over the other, but for now I'm diving Atomic. I don't think it'll be too long before I have a set of Apeks too.

I have 4 atomic regs and am considering an Apeks so that I can have it threaded on the left. 6 of one and half dozen of the other.

Which means he needs to buy two more Atomics, and Six Apeks!

Neither.

Bought a set of DIN M1s - Missing parts and leaks. Replaced with another set that were delivered in what appeared to be factory sealed boxes - Both were missing their external O rings; which means they could not have been tested before leaving the factory. Factory agreed to test if I returned them but I'd had enough of their poor quality control. Life safety equipment should never leave the factory without testing. That it happened is a Critical error.

Word. Can't have too many regs.
