place to install new dry suit boots

Post by no excuses »

need to install new boots on a DUI 200cfx dry suit, where is the best place (price/quality/service/time) to get this done. Do I have any options on boots besides rockboots or the soft boots from DUI.

thanks stan..

Depends on where your located and what you want. Several places will do it but some just send it out to someone else to have it done and that adds a week or more. You might check with seasoft in auburn and I'm pretty sure Erin at Tacoma dive center does it as does Hoodsport 'n' dive.

I use Superior Diving Repair (http://www.drysuitrepair.com/) for all my drysuit alteration repairs. They're not local, but their turnaround is fast - with rush, I've had less than a week door-to-door, and their work is great. I had major mods done on a Diving Concepts neoprene suit - longer arms, longer legs, convert neoprene to latex seals, etc, and it looks better than the work from the factory. The prices are pretty good, too.

There's also Steve Gamble in Florida (http://www.gamblescuba.com/) who friends have used and is a top notch guy, and will take time to talk you through anything you need done.

The only place to stay away from is the local guys at KME. There are _lots_ of us here that can tell you horror stories of our experiences with those guys.
There are no stupid questions, but there sure are a lot of inquisitive idiots...

callled up Hoodsport and dive and they told me that they would ship it out and would take a month, will have to give Tacoma dive center a call.

Have you contacted DUI?

One of the advantages of owning a DUI suit is their customer service ... in my experiences with them (I own two DUI suits), they do great work.

Diving. . . is an active physical form of meditation. It is so silent- You're like a thought.

SOME PEOPLE ARE LIKE SLINKIES. NOT REALLY GOOD FOR
ANYTHING, BUT THEY BRING A SMILE TO YOUR FACE WHEN PUSHED DOWN THE

Suit is on its way to Gamble Scuba, should be back in about 3 weeks with standerd shipping both way's. I am also getting a new dump valve and the legs shortend a couple of inches. Steve had some take offs in a hard boot in my size for a real good price.
