Hood Canal Mutation????

Post by dwashbur »

We've studied these photos every way we know how and a few ways we made up on the spot. This really is just one gaper. But it has - well, you decide. How many siphons do you see? This guy makes me wonder if somebody dumped radioactive waste in Hood Canal or something?!?!?!?!

Scott G., who contributes to this board occasionally, works with me at the Marine Resources Program. Here's a Web page he put together with some odd siphons like you describe. They are odd, but not that unusual. Here's the page:

I've seen them like that on occasion, at different dive sites throughout the NW, (so not just Hood Canal) and I know several others on this board have as well. Nice website link, Brandon! Scott - well done!
