Rock Greenling

Post by Scott G »

Well, I don't think i'll ever find a Spiny Lumpsucker, so down here, this has been mine. I've found them a number of times, but it seems as nothing has gone right with the camera everytime i find them, and they they are unfindably gone in the kelp.

Found a cooperative subject at dusk... Was getting bit by one a little bit away from this one... could not get a shot of anything but a macro of his lips.

here's the nice one:

here's what one biting your glove looks like.

They may have been guarding nests, but i didn't see any.

Port Orford, next to those rocks.

Got some unseasonably nice marine weather down here.

I take photos because I like it, not because I'm good at it. :) by Unknown

Scott! That first shot is BEEEOOOOTEEEFULL! (and the 2nd shot is just plain fun!)

What a pose - and from a fish ID perspective, what a great shot of those big bushy cirri!

And just a nice shot compositionally and all around.

So I've never seen one of these - except diving in the exhibit in the Oregon Coast Aquarium - and that's cheating.

I was looking at the Stonewall banks buoy the last few days and it sure looked like ideal diving conditions for the coast. Glad you got out and took advantage of that!

Thanks for the encouragement all, It was a great few days to be in the water down here, Vis was better than 50' offshore...

unfortunately, my boat is strictly nearshore, until i get a GPS, depth finder, marine radio, working compass, and further bravery, even so, enjoyed the 15' vis... it's like a freebie to get that and low swell in November.

Sounds like vis has been good up there with this weather too!
