Re: RIB
Looks like a nice little dive boat.
When you get it, feel free to drop me and Richard a line. Having just gone through outfitting a RIB, I am happy to share my experiences. Also happy to go out with you and show you some spots the first few times you take it out.

I will definitely take you up on that as I have lots of questions. It is being tuned up right now and having electronics added. Planning on taking it on my first run right after Christmas.dsteding wrote:Looks like a nice little dive boat.

I assume you are adding a GPS/Sounder combo?Ken G wrote:I will definitely take you up on that as I have lots of questions. It is being tuned up right now and having electronics added. Planning on taking it on my first run right after Christmas.dsteding wrote:Looks like a nice little dive boat.

I'll be down south the weekend after Christmas but back in town for New Year's.
A few must haves (besides obvious safety equipment)
1) a good anchor, a claw or Delta type, with a length of chain the same as the length of the boat. Get ~300 feet of rode, 3/8 inch is fine.
2) some gear lines to clip gear off with, I have cheap bolt snaps tied to lines I can attach to the tubes.
3) dive flag, you can get a bit Alpha flag from LiesurePro.
Good binoculars, and a handheld VHF, Standard Horizon makes a nice waterproof VHF/GPS combo.

Yes on the sounder/gps. Still need to look into the VHF.dsteding wrote:I assume you are adding a GPS/Sounder combo?Ken G wrote:I will definitely take you up on that as I have lots of questions. Nice, please do. Happy to pay it forward, Richard has taught me a fair amount.
A small claw in the 7-9 pound range should work for you.
What brand is your GPS? If Lowrance, I can probably give you numbers for a bunch of dive sites.
Fisheries Supply is Fremont is a great place to get stuff for boats, cheaper than West Marine for the most part-especially chain and anchors and stuff.

Re: RIB
I would also suggest the book Northwest Boat Dives. Give lots of dive sites and the GPS numbers for them.
