anemone question

Post by Scott G »

I've seen a few anemone's with these little extra growths scattered around them... they are attached. I don't know much about anemone spawning but i seem to remember these Urticina's to have seperate sexes (?)...

any ideas?

Hmmmm I'm no expert on anemones but those look like critters of some sort. Maybe they are anemone fleas?? \:D/ \:D/

Scott, the only anemone I saw releasing gametes were the Plumose. I don't know if this helps:

I take photos because I like it, not because I'm good at it. :) by Unknown

Yeah that helps Jan!

i would imagine if it looked like that from a colonial living anemone than singular ones would be without that jelly stuff that keeps it all close and in a bunch.

probably was gametes, my guess.

Thanks again,
Scott

ps. one shot was in the winter and one in the summer, both in Oregon.
