My dive buddy spotted this little guy near the rope that heads out west in about 30 fsw or so.
Sure looks like a squat lobster to me, but, I have never seen one at Redondo before.

Yup. That's a Squat Lobbie all right. Fantastic shot, too. As for being at Redondo.... I thought they were strictly Hood Canal. But this does seem to be the start of a pattern. About a week ago, we found six Spot Prawns over in Alki Cove 3. Does anyone know what's going on?

Every now and then I'll spot a "Squatty" in places I've never seen them before. I've even seen a couple up at Mukilteo in years past.
As for Spot Prawns, you probably just saw some up in shallow water that waited too long to head deeper when the sun started coming up. Once you get deep off of the coves you can sometimes find them in their thousands.

I've seen them at the logs in Cove 2. I was sure I was narced out of my gourd, so I made my buddy come over and look. Either we were both having the same hallucination, or there were squat lobsters there!

I thought they were a Hood Canal critter too, until I saw one at Les Davis a month ago. Good find!
