C2 tonight at about 5 -- tide was probably +4 or 5. Viz in the shallows (<20) so bad that I couldn't even figure out the depth contour to navigate (no compass). Below 40, it opened up to a delightful 8 to 10 -- very dark, but at least down there you could see the bottom before your nose hit it.

Les Davis, 5/10 2 pm. Truly crapulent! 5-6 ft vis top to bottom. I was still able to locate a juvinile wolf eel though!

Junkyard, today, 1pm-ish. Low tide, minimal current, maximal plankton :) 5' vis would be generous... same from surface to 50'.

And the good news is -- we have whale snot! Yes, the algae bloom is beginning to coagulate into those clumps and strings that leave the water in between much clearer. I'd say viz, where the DIT divers HADN'T been, was up to 20 feet in places today, and it was actually almost better in the shallows.

Hey! No sniping at the DIT divers! We were all new once!

Vis at junkyard on lower low tide mid-day today was 15' +/-

Three Tree 5/23 10-15' deeper than 50'. A bit less shallower. But the lumpies are out in force. Saw 14 on 2 dives today. The biggest ones are pea-sized.

Today at Redondo viz was 3 fsw down to 40fsw then opened up to much nicer vis of 10-15fsw.

NOTE: there was a large exchange today. End of our first dive it was still out toward the end of the pier, but after the 1 hour SI it was lashing at the first steps.

nd back to your regularly scheduled program - Pt. Lobos, 3' in the bay, 15' or so 'at depth', although it would have taken a shovel to hit 40fsw with low tide we had.

Tom: The only Pt Lobos I know of is near Monterey. Are you referring to that one or another?

~35ft vis at Mukilteo. 0ft vis between 0 and 30 feet, but it opens up beneath that quite a bit. Tons of ambient light at 110ft too.
