Jan, if there is any one thing I truly envy you, it's the ability to take these fabulous photographs of tiny and often completely unnoticed creatures, and make the viewer truly LOOK at them. I have learned so much from your pictures of worms and sponges and other humble things. Anybody can take a great picture of a Janolus fuscus . . . it takes an artist to make worms beautiful :)

Thank you Lynne, but all I do is take pictures of what is already there.
Like a ballet pose by a sea star :)

Lovely!

Uhm... but that reminds me more of having to go to the bathroom. But then I never was a dancer! :)

I can't remember, but I think it was you, Jan, who pointed out that the little sculpins are constantly foraging -- at which time I began to realize that they weren't just scampering away from my gaze or my camera, but actually hunting while I watched.

Very timely, Jan! I've only seen three of those guys, one at Keystone and two at Point Hudson.

It may very well be the best diving-related thread on the whole internet. Congratulations, Jan!

My surgeon is called indeed Dr.Z at the hospital. He is a great guy :)
LOL! I am glad that Dr. Z did not 'pull out' your sense of humor as well as the hernia. I have read somewhere that the 'laugh therapy' is becoming more popular. Keep creating your unique collages and in no time you will be able to go diving again! :)

Well, I guess it takes longer to heal when one is a senior citizen. :(
Saturday was such a beautiful day that I could not stand it and put my camera into a waterproof housing and went to local beach. No,I did not ignore doctor's orders about nothing heavy lifting and diving.
Instead, I put on rubber boots and limited myself to nine inch depth, for at 13 inches, the water would pour into my boots. Fortunately there was no wind and so water surface was flat and I stayed dry ...
This time it was definitely a Point and Shoot photography, becauseI did not see what I am taking actually taking pictures of. Here are some of the anemones, they don't run away when I tramp through the shallow water. Don't expect fish photos ...

Something about the fact that you can take photographs like this when holding the camera in 9 inches of water and not being able to see what you're photographing makes me want to put my head in my hands . . . Great work, Jan!

Jan: While I haven't given up hope that I can return to diving, I realized that I could still tidepool and snorkel. Thanks for lifting my spirits.

I am glad that my shooting is not limited by 36 exposure limit of roll of film.
