"Tech" is acceptable, as it's a shortened version of the word "technical", but "tec", and "tek" are all marketing terms. I also don't like "lite" instead of "light" or "Xmas" instead of "Christmas". I'm old-fashioned in that I think English should be spoken completely and correctly.
+1 for this answer. Some might consider it pedantic, but there are certain things that just shouldn't be placed on a slippery slope, you know? Once you do, it just all goes to hell.
