WOOT!! For everyone who doesn't know Brian and Jeanna, they're two kick-ass big buddies. If you're looking for a great dive where you'll learn something too, definitely make plans to come out on the 16th!BDub wrote:Both Jeanna and I are going to try to make this one.

I am going to try and make it as well. So far it looks good. I can be a big buddy and can help divers with thier skills.
Thanks Penoploypants for getting this going.

Re: Big Buddy/Club Dive - Redondo, August 16th!
We're confirmed!
Erica, Dylan, and I will be coming however I will not be diving. I'm happy to offer big-buddy type advice top side if someone has questions about something I can help them with. In addition to gear and tank logistics, I can't guarantee I'd be the most attentive big buddy due to lack of sleep so it'd be better for little buddies to pair up with rested big buddies - appears that we're going to have several fantastic big buddies to hook up with.

That's good to hear Doug! It will be nice to see how much the little munchkin has grown in a few weeks.
We do indeed have a fantastic group of big buddies. If you're a little buddy, or a big buddy who wants to dive with a bigger buddy, or you just want to meet some new buddies, this is an awesome opportunity to meet some highly skilled divers who just happen to be really nice people too. :hello2:
I want to check out this nav course, too....my naviguessing skills always need work!

My hubby and I are wanting to camp, but the sites are multiples only. I think there is a 2 person and a 3 person, anyone interested? Our address is Bob and Melissa Wilkie 231 Robertson Road, Longview WA, 98632 if you want to set it up. Or let me know and I'll set it up.
Thanks.

We're planning on camping at Dash Point. There are two spots available one with three campsites and one with two. You have to reserve them together, but each site has to be reserved for a different person.

Re: Big Buddy/Club Dive - Redondo, August 16th!
I will definitely make it for this. Has anyone been keeping track of what people are bringing to share? What do we still need?

Re: Big Buddy/Club Dive - Redondo, August 16th!
Put me down for buns & condiments-I sent a pm to get a count on burgers-hopefully I'll get a solid number, otherwise I'll wing it-
Just to be clear, who is the lead on this so I know who to check my food in with & how will this person be spotted???
Any sign or bizarre adornments?? I'd hate to drive around in circles with food- also wondering how tough the parking will be-should I get there early?? Is there a gear dropoff point & then you park your car or do you gear up at the car & walk in??
Sorry for all the dumb questions, I just like to be as informed as possible when going somewhere-more specifics please

Penelope has a blue Subaru that you can't miss. You park in a pay lot and gear up there and then make a short walk across the street to the entry. There are showers and bathrooms there also.

Re: Big Buddy/Club Dive - Redondo, August 16th!
Yup - loads of great parking, $5 for the day. Showers and a fresh-water hose (boat rinse) to rinse gear, for "public restrooms" they're not too bad, and you can't miss the divers.
I'd bet you'll see at least 1 or two pop-up tents, lots of dive stickers, and most likely a table with a grill or two and loads of chips. Just show up and ask around - you'll find everyone without a problem.
This is going to be fun! Dylan already has his outfit selected for his dive site debut, which includes a custom, genuine DSS aluminum back-plate which showed up in the mail as a surprised, made and sent by Tobin himself - it's an exact replica of the larger models. :rr:

Didn't the cost for parking just go up to $7? I thought that was going to start soon.

Pictures are, hopefully, soon to come. This baby no-sleep thing has a way of changing priorities... I got an unexpected 1.5 hour nap today!! But yes, there will be pictures of Dylan sporting his gift from Tobin and some other cool gear during his next trip into the dive simulator.Scubagirl45 wrote:Since I won't be able to attend, I must insist on pictures Doug; I just gotta see the back-plate . The bp/w that Jake made is fairly solidly put together, so I think that rig will stay as one-piece. Jake's black bp/w rig is sweet - it should definitely be left whole.

Re: Big Buddy/Club Dive - Redondo, August 16th!
This is going to be a good one! Here's what we have so far.....
Ppants - utensils, plates, charcoal, stove, grill, cooler with ice.
NWGratefuldiver - hamburgers
Dieseldude - bringing buns (I think there's about 20 burgers in a costco pack, so about that many buns?)
Spatman - pasta salad
Kalatin - snacks
GetWet - cobbler
We still need veggies, fruits, potato salad, hot dogs or sausages, all natural cheetos (very important), drinks, etc. Please bring some water for yourself, and I also recommend you bring a chair for lounging during the surface interval.
As Ron said, I drive a blue subaru outback, and I'll be in the pay lot wherever I can find a spot. I'll put up my shade canopy if it's really rainy or really sunny. I have lime green dry gloves and a lime green and black undergarment. Please check in with me when you get there if you're a big buddy or little buddy so I can pair you up, or if you just need a buddy.

Re: Big Buddy/Club Dive - Redondo, August 16th!
I will bring hotdogs and buns. Also I will make sure Ppants has a fresh bag of o'natural cheetos. Also I can have a cooler with ice to keep the important things cold. I can also bring a canopy for some shade since it will be 80 and sunny even if it isn't.

Hmmm, turns out nominating myself to bring "snacks" is fairly non-descriptive. How about signing me up for Potato Salad and fruit salad. I have a fresh batch of pickles that is burning a hole in my pantry.

Re: Big Buddy/Club Dive - Redondo, August 16th!
Golly!
Everyone seems so excited to participate...can I come too? I don't know a single blasted one of ya, but willing to introduce myself after a few minutes of shyness go away!
I don't think I know what ya mean by big buddy and little buddy. I am a diver with many dives in cold water. SOme dives in warm water. Some dives on the CCR2000 Rebreather. And some dives with a flooded drysuit. OH yea, and some dives bagging cadavers and weapons underwater for law enforcement.
I might take advantage of the navigation class someone graciously offered. I have never been able to do a square under water, but I am really good at a triangle. Like a berumuda triangle.
I am sending my husband to Leavenworth area to white water kayak, so I will have Saturday free (I will kayak on Sunday instead). I will be coming from Portland. Is there anyone interested in carpooling with me? No biggie if not.
I am making banana nut bread tonight. So I will bring a loaf of that. And maybe some chips and home made salsa? Hmm..someone said no chips. I will find something else to bring then...Maybe blueberry cobbler?
