Keeping alone the same lines. When was the first recorded use of a diving bell and by who?

In 1535, Guglielmo de Lorena created and used what is considered to be the first modern diving bell.

Alexander the Great?

"is said to have visited the sea bed in a glass barrel at the Siege of Tyre in 332 BC"

(but reports of seeing a seamonster so big that it too 3 days to pass in front of him effectively trounced his reputation as a submariner)

next up were references to 13th Century philosopher Roger Bacon....

All of this from Tim Ecott's book "Neutral Buoyancy" which is a worthy read :)

Alright Rockfish seems to be AWOL, so I'll step in and keep things moving forward. Here's a relatively straightforward, albeit cryptic, question...

What does seattle diving have in common with the Seattle Museum of Flight?

Are you referring to the F4U Corsair salvaged from lake WA that is on display at the MOF?

Yep! The Corsair that can be see at the Museum of Flight was recovered from Lake Washington in the 80s. It was originally put there by a midair collision with another Corsair in 1950, and the remains of the second corsair can now be dived near Madison Beach.

You're up Richard!

Curt scores. Chetzemoka, WA State's newest ferry. The original was a sister ship to the Kehloken and before that a Clallam area Indian Chief.

In keeping with the wreck theme. I used to dive the remnants of an old steam powered wreck at Richmond Beach. What was the ship's name?

Nope. I've sailed on a Dauntless, but that is not the name I was given for the wreck.
