Whidbey goes to Browning Pass

Post by Jan K »

There was enough said about the Browning Pass great diving on this forum. Seeing all the great pictures taken there, I did not hesitate when I was offered a spot to go there with my fellow Whidbey divers. Two weeks after the big ADM expedition, ten of us followed in their footsteps driving up the road to Port Hardy. Better writers then I described the journey and diving there, so I shall stick to snapshots of what I saw there.. BTW, we too experienced winds which kept us from diving outside the protection of Clam Cove, although not as strong and we did not freeze... John deBoeck lived up to his reputation as THE expert of the area and I would like to come back and dive more... I am still overwhelmed by the beauty and feel that I did not take a fll advantage of what the Browning Pass area has to offer. I suffered sensory overload the whole time... Enjoy...

OMG, Jan, those pictures gave me goosebumps! I thought nothing could top being there, and the wonderful photos that folks like John Rawlings and Curt Bowen got from our trip. But your combination of photograph montages with artwork, and educational narrative, quite simply is the ultimate way to record a trip. Thank you SO much for sharing this!

Thank you all for kind words, I am glad you enjoy my feeble attempt to share what Browning Pass
has to offer. I saw only very small portion of it, but my memories are forever.
And when you have a great group of people to dive with, that place is is even better.
For those who already visited John's HideAway, here are two more pages to remember his place..
Please note - everybody is SMILING !!!

LOVE IT! I see Julie there...and I love how the camera gets its own bunk and you, Jan, sleep in your drysuit. At least you take your fins off before hitting the sack!

Dive, eat, dive, sleep . . . yeah, that about sums it up, except you forgot the "huddle around woodstove trying to thaw out" step.

You've been saying that ever since I met you! I think that I'll believe it when I see it....remember, having something "on your bucket list" actually means doing it BEFORE you die! :smt064

If that, being a feeble attempt knocked my socks off, I can't imagine what an all out effort would be! The collage of photo's with hand illustrations and narratives is wonderful! Like someone else said, way better than a brochure!

Thanks for sharing!

Yes, imagine to have time to dive all of the jewels of that area. I had a quick peek at only five of them .... :blur:

That trip is definitely on my "to do list".

Jan, what program did you use to create your collage with?
Cheers!

Jan, that is a most incredible "trip report!"
You have a serious talent... putting this together...
I am humbled by the beauty of the area on most days, and you've just captured that magic in a way few people have ever achieved.
Bravo!!
cheers, and a huge thankyou!
Hopefully see you again soon.
