Welch Allyn & HID bulbs

Post by ldevore »

Just saw this headline: "Welch Allyn Divests Surgical Lighting and Specialty Metal Halide Product Lines"

(Here is the link if you want to do some detailed reading: http://www.qmed.com/news/20078/welch-al ... duct-lines)

I believe that LightMonkey may get their HID bulbs from Welch Allyn. I wonder how it may affect them and if this is one more nail in the coffin for HID can lights?

I was under the impression that most manufacturers had switched over to the Brightstar line due to increased durability and reduced cost.

I'm going to have to replace a bulb in my 18w light. I can pay almost $200 for the bulb or for a fraction of the price I can replace the ballast and bulb with a Brightstar.

I talked to Cory from LM about this at the Expo. They're all Brightstar at this point. Nice guy, it was fun to meet him.
