Scuba Trivia! Win Prizes!
Scuba Trivia! Win Prizes!
Alright everyone stand back -- I have an idea!!!
I'd like to start a scuba trivia game on NWDC. Here's how it would work
1) I will ask a trivia question of my choosing
2) Each of you will attempt to answer the question
3) Once a correct answer is posted (to my satisfaction), then I will acknowledge said answer as correct
4) The author of the correct answer must then post a new question, and the cycle repeats
Feel free to search for the answer using internet resources, but I'm hoping the questions will be subtle enough to avoid outright "copy and paste" googling.
I/we will be keeping tabs on who gets the most correct, and the board members with the most points at random intervals will receive a prize from me (or anyone else who wants to donate one). Simple enough?
FIRST QUESTION (an easy one): What is the most famous ship ever built in Seattle?

I forgot one rule -- blind googling can and will be rewarded negative points ![:taco: :taco:](./images/smilies/taco.gif)

Re: Scuba Trivia! Win Prizes!
ORDiver nailed it!
Calypso, the most iconic scuba-oriented ship of all time, was buit right in our own backyard by Ballard Marine Railway Company. Originally a British minesweeper christened the BYMS-26, Calypso was built from Port Orford cedar planks in order to avoid detection by magnetic mines common in WWII. After the war she served as a ferry from/to Malta and then sold to Cousteau via financing by the heir to the Guinness beer fortune.
your turn to come up with a Q ORDiver![:) :)](./images/smilies/smile.gif)

How can you not, just use Google to answer these questions?
I think I know the answer, but I am not sure of a good question to post, after I answer it.![dontknow :dontknow:](./images/smilies/dontknow.gif)

Steve Bielenda?
Bassmann -- feel free to use Google to AID your search, but it's more fun to at least have something in mind before you just enter the words from the question. In other words, I'm hoping the question writers are savvy and make the questions subtle![:) :)](./images/smilies/smile.gif)

Not sure who was lost in 2008, but that number was 15 and it was after Dave Bright's death. Can't seem to find any more recent numbers.
