Best Diving in Canada?

Post by lundysd »

Hey everyone -- quick straw poll here. What's your favorite destination in Canada for diving and why? If you'd like specific criteria, consider the following...

Best Photography
Most Diverse Life
Best Wreck
Best Getaway Spot with non-diving S/O
Best Tech Diving

Feel free to suggest one or more locations, or if you have another reason you love one particular spot, tell me why!

Personal picks ... with a couple extra categories tossed in ...

Best photography - Port Hardy
Most diverse life - Port Hardy
Best walls - Quadra Island
Best dive site - Mozino Point, Nootka Sound
Best wreck - Vanlene, Barkley Sound
Best getaway spot with non-diving S/O - Victoria

I haven't done a whole lot of tech diving up there, so I'll leave that one for others to answer ...

Quadra Island. Awesome diving here, and I also have an old friend from my childhood that lives on the Island (In the little backeddy that faces copper bluff). Beautiful walls covered (and I mean covered) with life, and on the east side of the island there are non current sensitive sites that definitely do not suck!
Also I was born in Campbell River, it is kind of like going back home.
