Browning Pass by way of Nanaimo - Video & Photos

Post by dlh »

Our big dive trip for the second half of the year was a visit to Browning Pass by way of Nanaimo. Our group headed up to Nanaimo for a weekend of diving before moving on to God's Pocket up in Browning Pass for another 5 days of diving. This is a great way to break up what is otherwise a 12 hour journey.

Nanaimo is always fun, and this time I made my first attempt at shooting video. I put together a video rig consisting of a Sony CX550 HD video cam, a simple Ikelite housing, and a Nocturnal video light. It was a bit of a learning curve, but I was pretty happy with the results. Editing the clips and compiling a short video turned out to be pretty simple.

I had a bit of a leak after the first day in Browning Pass, which turned out to be user error. No damage was done however, but I switched to Photos for the rest of the trip. So most of my video is highlights from Nanaimo.

In Browning Pass I switched over to photos. So much color and life, it's pretty overwhelming!

Great photos, and thank you for bringing back memories for me. We are headed back up there this fall, intending to break the trip up, just as you did. Such fantastic diving!
