New UTD buoyancy system
New UTD buoyancy system
I got spam about this system today.
http://www.unifiedteamdiving.com/page/d ... back-mount
I like some of the ideas, but the lack of dump valves at each end of the bladder seems like a safety issue. It's designed to easily vent while prone (nice) but then seems to completely lack a way to vent should you be head-up for some reason.
Am I missing something?

Re: New UTD buoyancy system
The elastic material on the wing that's compressing it so that it vents even head up. (I'm not saying it's a good idea, just how it seems to work)Am I missing something?
BWOD anyone?

I would like to see it underwater.
Re: New UTD buoyancy system
that is some serious air he is getting over that shark.
Re: New UTD buoyancy system
How is using the elastic material different than using the bands on 'bondage wings'? BTW... I don't want to start a "bondage' vs 'non-banded' wings debate.

There is some difference. While it does not change the "a hole in the wing will result in gas being forced out" argument, it's not as likely to trap gas between the runs of bungee.fishb0y wrote:How is using the elastic material different than using the bands on 'bondage wings'? I actually had a wing like that (wing wrapped in lycra like a fusion DS) on a soft BC that I bought, it worked quite well for running a MASSIVE amount of lift in a form factor that prevented tacoing of the wing on a single tank. I never had an issues with it trapping gas.

I think the guy in the video tried to sell me some speakers from the back of his van in a shopping center parking lot last week.

I always thought the solution to wing taco was a properly sized singles wing?

Taco - Tortilla = No Taco or T-T=0T
my math may be off.
and for those who've never seen or heard of Ralph Williams (and those who may have forgotten)... it fit's perfect.

Hee Hee Hee....I figured that I couldn't be the only one around that remembered Ralph Williams! Most NWDC members reading that quote above were probably thinking, "WTF????"4ster wrote:I'm old enough to remember and its spot on. BTW didn't that end badly?John Rawlings wrote:Hi, friends! Ralph Williams was a used car dealer that had car lots up and down the West Coast. He was the absolute epitome of the stereotypical "Used Car Salesman" and his TV ads were famous for their high level of BS.

So he copied Cal WOrthington and his "dog" spot, or was this even before Cal?John Rawlings wrote:Hee Hee Hee....I figured that I couldn't be the only one around that remembered Ralph Williams! What's wrong with a little bit of dihedral? It adds roll stability to those Ohio class cylinders, right? <grin>Nwbrewer wrote:Waynne Fowler wrote:Apparently Drew's tired of "Wing Taco"? Hmmmm

Does it have somewhere for me to clip off the retractor for my console?

Re: New UTD buoyancy system
Wait a few weeks for the P System. The wing inflation hose is centered at the base of the wing and routed forward and up and bungeed to your scooter ring. This frees up your chest rings for all sorts of stuff (like your console retractor).Joshua Smith wrote: Does it have somewhere for me to clip off the retractor for my console?

Re: New UTD buoyancy system
Ya know....I'm not really sure which of them came first. I "think" that Ralph might have started off with "Storm", who was a real dog, and then Cal started making commercials with "Spot", who was always something else...a dinosaur, a bull, a lion, etc....to poke fun at Ralph's ads. However, I'm definitely not a student of their behavior, so I could easily be wrong about that.cardiver wrote: So he copied Cal WOrthington and his "dog" spot, or was this even before Cal?
