Alki: 57 degrees with wolf eels galore

Post by anndornfeld »

I'm heading to Alki immediately to enjoy 57-degree water and see all of those wolf eels I've been missing on my weekly dives.

Well, there used to be a wolf eel at Cove 2 down in the rocks by the I-beams. We named her Wendy after she tried eating my dive buddy's finger ...

Oh, come on isn't it obvious that it is all Wayne's fault.

I'm staying out of this. Blame the reporter. I don't even know why he cropped the damn picture. Don't know where he got the temperature reading, but he was close though. It was 54 degrees to be exact.

Well, at least he got the darn names right.

Hey, I'm a reporter!

An old-fashioned "fact-checking" reporter.

Or at least I attribute so the public knows who to blame... ;)

This isn't nearly as bad as the NY Times story I read in the '90s wherein the reporter described Bill Gates' new Medina home as "a 12-minute kayak trip across Lake Washington from Seattle."

Correction: I just wondered if I was recalling that accurately, and checked my facts. Here is what it actually said:

"a 10-minute canoe ride across Lake Washington from Seattle."

I'm kinda blown away by the near-accuracy of my memory (a rarity), but still not as blown away as I would be to watch someone row across the lake in 10 minutes. Maybe they meant a hydroplanecanoe?

At Sund Rock yesterday, in the shallows, it seriously was 60 degrees!! Bathwater temps...so maybe that reporter isn't THAT far off... :D
