Not much life on the south side this morning. I did manage to spot a couple of lumpies in the 15-17' range...................

Yes. I also forgot to use the "sarcasm" font.

Another nice dive at The Dond. Last Thursday was so cold that I brought a couple of poly base layers and a thin merino t-shirt to wear under my weezle. Too bad I left the weezle at home so dove in 2 poly base layers on my legs and the merion t, a cotton sweatshirt and a thin jacket. Cold, cold, cold. I lasted 45 minutes and then left blackwater to fend for himself.

Just like Thursday, we dropped into a nice field of white lined dironas.

The coolest thing though was that Bric found a GPO under a rock, battling with a crab to pull him in for a snack. We hung out for quite a while and it was pretty neat to watch the octopus trying to position the crab so that he could be pulled in without losing him.

Beautiful pictures! It's pretty cool to get an alabaster with the rhinopores so obvious and so beautifully crisp. Nice work!

James, great shots as always!

The water has been really cold recently, about 44 today. The pace of the dives when taking pictures doesn't help, I was really cold today. The upside is that Redondo always has enough to keep the dives interesting. Today things were really small. The nudis were smaller than the tip of my finger.

James and Ron thanks for the dives today!

Bric, that tiny octopus (?) is just amazing! I've never seen anything like it. I'm glad you found the wolf eel. You got some wonderful photos.

Lots of nudis out. Great viz despite ebbing tide and a swell running. Second dive, both my dive buddy and I experienced a first, attack by Herring ball!

Totally agree but then again I think to dive is always great. :partydance:

James I just read your sig line...... did i actually say that bwhahahaha

I did not take any of those morbid dead seal pup pics :huge:

I still cannot identify that creature in the second pic down. For some reason it keeps getting its picture taken on each dive :nutty:

Ron was chased down by MR fishy who did not like us passing by his brood. I happen to get a quick shot as he shot over to me and under as you can see by the pic.

We were going to dive with Ron, Keith, Tom, and crew and FINALLY see more than 1 lumpie. However, I failed to relay the plan adequately to my dive buddy for this week so we headed off alone. Came across a dragon kite down by the bottlefield and spent just a wee bit too much time fiddling around with it. Headed up slope and after a stellar bit of navigation on my part, we found the wolfies to not be at home.

However, ran across several snail fish, including the huge one (I'm assuming) that we saw previously. Cruised the shallows for lumpies (burning off a little time) but didn't find a one. The usual hundreds of tubesnouts in the eel-grass and the usual Moon Snails but not a lumpie to be found (by us).

Deleted my other post and moved it to this thread :-)

Good dive with Penders and in the same ocean as a couple other NWDC members (Ron, Keith, Tom). The pre and post dive hoopla was better than the viz. It looked like a #!$* storm hit Redondo, there were limbs and debris blown all over the site. Mike and I headed down the line to the bottle field and over to the ramp. The coolest part of the dive was a cool worm we found in a bottle. There were actually two of them, one 3" and one about 9". I had never seen anything like it, pretty amazing. Lots of debris floating in the water and overall crappy conditions for Redondo. Overall good dive though. Here are a few shots. Great meeting with you all again!

Cool worm. Somebody please help with the ID, not sure what this is. It was segmented and "fluffy" looking.

I know, pretty morbid picture of a skull. My son really liked it though. I think it is from a seal. I saw a carcass several days ago around the same spot.
