Feeding time.

I don't know if this is OK or not, but I have on occasion, tracked down a crab and offered it to a octo. Half the time they reach out and take it the other half they just look at it. I would never bring human food to feed the critters as that's just wrong. But is offering a crab going to disrupt the fabric of the underwater world?

I would think it's only a problem if any one particular octo gets used to being fed and "pulls attitude" with divers that don't have a crab with them. It could happen, they are really smart!

I highly doubt they would forget how to hunt for themselves.

Yes. Check out the wolfie behavior at Day Island sometime. Just my opinion.

being fed by divers...could be why this octo reached out, thinks divers have food...?
