Best way to figure out my weight

So I am nearing 20 dives. Yes I know it isn't many. Every dive I feel as if I am too heavy or too light. One of my last dives I dropped weight...yes too much, 8lbs. Yes I know, that is too much now.

The question is what is the best way to start to figure out my best dive weights?

I did a search and found lots of possible topics but none that really gave me what I need.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Breathe tank to 500psi and move to chest deep water. Have buddy add/remove weight until a full breath **just** raises you off the bottom. Done.

Empty BC, inflate drysuit to normal loftiness
Lie on the bottom in about 4-5ft of water with a near empty tank (400-500psi)
Add remove weight until you can float just off bottom

If you dump all the gas from your suit you will have to vent all that gas on your normal dives when getting down <1000psi. Which will equal freezing at the end of your dives. Maybe not so bad in summer since the surface waters can warm up a bit. But in March it'll be brutal.
