That's a Lion's Mane jelly, Cyanea capillata, and you are quite fortunate not to have entangled yourself with it.
Great shots!

You can tell it's a lion's mane rather than an egg yolk jelly (or as I like to call them, egg drop) - because a lion's mane only has 8 nodes in the bell, rather than 16.

I ran into one last Saturday at Day Island- there were quite a lot of jellies in the water, and when I first ducked my head to check the vis I noted one about 10 ft away.
Anyway, at 75-80 feet I happened to notice some dark tendrils hanging on front of my mask- I know I audibly swore as I ducked my head to my chest and kicked forward. When I looked back, there was one a little smaller than my head hanging 5-8 feet above me. Then I noticed the slight tingling along the edges and bottom of my mask.
After getting out of the water, it started to feel more like bad razorburn, I was expecting more of a welting but it just got a little red over the next couple hours, and every once in a while a little pinprick feeling, until it fully faded away.
A wonderful first experience at Day Island and first experience with a Lion's Mane!

'Tis the season... Sund Rock was crawling with them, plus a few Egg Yolk jellies thrown in for good measure. Do the egg yolks sting like the Lion's Mane? With better viz you could spot them easily and avoid them IF YOU REMEMBERED TO LOOK UP! ](*,) I didn't get any good pics because I was too chicken to get that close!
