DIY Solution for a dive light

Post by ggthatcher »

I'm hoping to buy a GoPro for a dive in Mexico this summer. I totally get the issues with holding it, red filters, and better light. I've been looking to buy one of these http://www.backscatter.com/underwater/v ... ero3.lasso

But then I was poking around and found a really cool solution for dive lights at DIY prices. Anyone think this would work?http://www.instructables.com/id/Hack-a- ... ing-light/
Essentially, you fill a cheap light up with mineral oil to keep the pressure consistent. Then you just turn it on and it comes on. Thoughts?

i will give some advice .... the problem with that cheap light , as its cheap and it will work, is putting a fresh battery into it everytime it goes out... you will have to reopen it, get messy and refill... yes you can build a light with mineral oil in the light the light head, ive built several of them.. but you want a battery pack inside a can.. if you are serious about a gopro light ? i have 2 sitting around here at my house that are used ...

Drink water, breathe air. Never get these mixed up.
