Jeff and I were brainstorming a drift dive from DIW > Titlow.
Has anyone done it, and could give some pointers?
We were considering diving into the drift, and end close to slack at Titlow, but we don't know any other way than by time, when to surface. This would of course be on scooters, as we'll have a ways to get back to shore.
Any help appreciated, and yes a boat for backup might be a good plan.

I suggest surfacing when you slam into the gigantic plumose filled piling structure at 25-30 fsw.

I suspect we'll be out quite aways from that, otherwise it would make a nice landmark.

This has been done before and I think you can find the report on this forum somewhere. As I recall it was a long dive with not much to see between DIW and Titlow

We would only surface long enough to get bearings, and back under, so I'm not overly worried about it, but of course we'd have to be aware of boat traffic, so listen and pop a 6ft bag as well.
Not sure how the current would carry us through around the point where the marina entrance is though, as we could have a long scooter run back to titlow.

IF I were to try it I'd go in at the tail end of ebb on a slightly bigger than normal day, ride the north wall out to around the corner to slack...hopefully. Go with the slack a ways (probably across the marina entrance, and the flood will kick in sometime. By they you should be into the Titlow bay and the reverse back eddy will boost you along to Titlow.
Theory....all pure theory.
The other option is just ride a larger ebb straight north for 40"-60" to slack. Turn east, and poke your head up when it gets shallow enough to warrant a look around to see where you have ended up. Never been that far north but a couple reports indicate the wall continues straight north.
More theory.
I've contemplated it based on some encouragement from other divers but without adequate air and appropriate support (neither of which I have) it's just not a reasonable recreational dive. Except for the doing of it the dive itself sounds kind of lame. But then I think Agate Pass is lame.
