Northwest Dive Club

What: Club Dive!
Where: Sund Rock!
When: Saturday September 6th, 9:00 a.m.!

I will bring barbecue basics (grill, tables, cooler, popup canopy, utensils, plates, water, etc.). I will be bringing burger patties too.

Please bring a dish to share, such as potato salad, casseroles, desserts, or a packet of hot dogs, hot dog buns, burger buns, etc. Please post here what you are bringing so that we only have 20 bags of chips!

A popup canopy might be nice for some shade, if you have one to bring. Also bring: sunscreen, water, a chair for surface intervals, your dive gear, and your meet and greet face.

Looking for new buddies? Be there! Always wanted to put some avatars to some faces? Now is the time! Want to try out some gear, like a different type of fins, or a bp/w, or a different tank? Let me know, and I'll wrangle up some gear for you!

This is a "Big Buddy" dive, so if you are a "Little Buddy" (a new and/or inexperienced diver) and want to dive with a "Big Buddy" (a more experienced diver), let me know and I'll set you up. If you're willing to be a Big Buddy let me know that too!

There is a fee to dive this site that must be paid at Hoodsport 'n Dive prior to driving down to the site. This fee is per diver, not per vehicle, and Mr. Sund usually pops around to check at some point during the day to confirm that it was paid, so please do so.

I'm assuming that you've talked to the dive shop and "reserved" the site for us that Saturday? Or is it simply first come first served?

I asked if anyone would else was planning to be there, and they said no, but reminded me that it is first come, first serve, regardless. Hence the please carpool request.

I'll be there. Not sure if I'll be diving yet, as it's just three weeks after my carpal tunnel surgery ... but I'll bring some brownies, table, canopy, BBQ grill, and some spare gear in case somebody forgets something ...

Limited Parking is an understatement, DEFINTELY CARPOOL!!!

I will make the offer of shuttling divers from Hoodsport to Sund in my truck.
The last time I was there the parking was full by 9:15am.
I would suggest that they would call someone at Sund while at the dive shop to see if any parking is left.
If not, I would go get the and bring them in.

You can also park in the little pull-out area up the hill, just outside of where they stretch the chain across the gate. Or in the pull-off about 150 feet south of the entrance. I'd recommend heading down to the dive area first and dropping off gear, but there are places up near the road for "overflow" parking ...

Of course you can join!

And while there is a fee to access the dive site, there's no fee to join the club. Ignore MZ. He's our special little guy around here.

FYI--I know of at least 2 (possibly 3, according to an email I received this morning) other clubs/shops that are planning dives at Sund Rock on 9/6. It's going to be crazy crowded!

Curious - how much time does it take from Seattle? Also, how many dives do people do typically?

It takes a couple of hours from Seattle. Typically people do two, sometimes more. One on the north wall and one to the south. There's loads to see.

I'll be there. Not sure what I'll bring, but it won't be chips.

Kim and I had such a nice time diving with you in May! I'm so sorry we can't make this one,,,but she's getting married on the 6th in my backyard! I'll be over for a boat dive October 11th and a couple shore dives on the 12th, hope to meetup on the 12th! Kim has a leaky DS zipper so I don't know if she's coming in October. Take care!!
