Suunto Zoop?

I am sure many of you have seen various emails from various retailers with the Suunto Zoop computer on closeout at a pretty sweet price. I am not in the market for a computer myself but do know a number of newer divers who are looking for inexpensive but decent gear and who ask me for recommendations.

Unfortunately I know nothing about this computer. I suspect that since it's on closeout everywhere that there's something probably wrong with it, but Suunto also has a pretty good reputation.

Yes I am aware that "My SuperduperGreatestThingEver Computer TM is the superestduperest thing ever and wipes my butt for me too and yesterday it got me a pumpkin spice latte without me having to ask!" PSL obtaining abilities rock but I'm fairly sure most newer divers would be task loaded when they had to check if it did in fact come with extra whipped cream. So please, let's not let this thread devolve into that. :)

Pretty sure the Zoop has been discontinued by Suunto, probably because it kept forgetting the whipped cream on the pumpkin spiced lattes.

Hah! It's an under-appreciated feature.

Suunto has a horribly penalizing and restrictive deco bubble model.

Depending on your dive, etc you may find it screaming at you.

Pack is a rebreather/tech diver with a penchant for going deep and long. With a Suunto he could never surface.

Yes, it IS conservative. How conservative depends on the diver. It's either 'safe' or a 'pain'. Multiple dives exaggerate the issue.
My wife got a Suunto Vyper Air after numerous other brands croaked. Hopefully the reliability is better, we'll see. And it IS conservative. She has to run it on it's max liberal settings AND 24% (diving on air) to approximate my Uwatec Aladin. (FWIW 2 of those croaked just after warranty period.... #^$#@)

Yea, with a Suunto, my deco would be so long, I'd never be seen again.
