Alki Junkyard

Scuba Jess invited me to join the group on a dive at Alki Junkyard today. I jumped at the opportunity to dive with the club since I am new but I was a little anxious to dive with experienced diving and didn’t want to ruin their opportunity to dive. I met up at 8:00am with Jess, Kirby, JT, Dave, Chris, Dereck and Eric. Jess buddied up with me and we got ready. The wind had kicked up to about 10knots and the waves were moderate but divable. I had a problem decending, likely caused by me being quite nervous (went through 1000psi on the surface). With a couple more lbs of weight and few moments to calm down, I sank like a Rock and we got started. Spent 35 minutes looking nudibranches, sea spiders, hermit crabs and sea pens. Upon surfacing we were hit by a couple huge waves that knocked both us over and lost my mask. That ended my day, after changing out of the dive gear, most of us went to Cactus’ for lunch. I think I learned more at lunch that during my OW class. Thanks for including me everyone.

It was great to meet you!! I had a super great dive. Didn't see any sea spiders but I did find a winged sea slug, a baby stubby squid and some cool nudis. :taco:

Sucks to have missed it but sounds like a great day out in the water with the exception of the lost mask. Waves that big. Wow.

I hated that mask. Bought another one on the way home that fits much better.
