Underwater gps. Imagine the possibilities. Store waypoints, dive trips and directions.

Anyone have this?? Does it work underwater, the gps specifically?

This would make our lives easier.
Always looking for dive buddies.

If its 5 feet of water I will dive it.

This is a watch, not a dive computer-Suunto makes all sorts of things besides dive computers.

My guess is that GPS signals cannot be received underwater, even indoors you have issues with receiving the satellite signals.

I have a friend who is a SF diver in the Army and he wears this watch. It is not a dive watch and is worn for it's gps capabilities.

It has GPS, and you can take it underwater, but it doesn't have underwater GPS because GPS doesn't work underwater. The features that do work underwater (time, compass, temp) are taken care of by my dive computer. Personally speaking, I've never understood the point of having a watch while diving because once I'm underwater, I don't care what the specific time is, I'll come up when I'm done. I'm only concerned with how long I've been down, which my computer takes care of (and this gizmo doesn't). Your money would be better spent on a dive computer or dive watch. This would only make the sellers life easier because they would be $400 richer.

A watch is good to have for knowing when slack is. But GPS signals are way too weak to penetrate water.

This is the answer I was looking for. I was not sure if gps signals could be received underwater.

So tell me this: How do the Navy Seals navigate underwater to enemy camps with rebreathers and such.

There has to be a way to get gps working underwater since there is obviously clear line of sight to the satellites.

I may be the next AMERICAN INVENTOR!!

Seriously though, think about it, it has to work somehow.

They use a navigation board and a compass. The only way you could get a gps signal underwater would be to toy an antenna on the surface.
