Are people finding the subscription worth it? I'm still on lightroom 6 which has no recurring cost to me.

I bit the bullet and went subscription several years ago. You definitely don’t come out ahead cost-wise versus the standalone license, which I wish they still offered. Adobe continue to add features and updates that are only available via CC subscription in an effort to push people that direction. One of the few ways to make it at least a little more palatable is to add time when there are occasionally sales on it like this one. YMMV
