Campbell River and Dodd's Narrows April 2022

Hi
A group of us went up to dive Campbell River April 8-10, with Abyssal Dive Charters. We had 40+ feet of viz and the best tides of the year to enjoy it. The diving's just so much fun up there, check it out! (tell them Eric and Scuba Jess sent you!)

On the way home, we checked out Dodd's Narrows near Nanaimo. This is a Deception Pass like site in that area. The point on the wall is smothered in painted anemones. Unfortunately, our charter (NDO) wasn't experienced with the site, so some people were mislead on how to properly navigate the site. Also, there was a herring spawn so the viz was very poor. That's twice we've been skunked with poor viz at this site due to the herring spawn! Still a fun time was had and we'll have to go back!

Here were some of my snaps:

Better late than never? Here are a few of my snaps that I finally got around to dealing with. I had some equipment issues the whole trip..... and ended up taking most of my photos with my trusty single video light. The diving was still great, with the underwater highlight being 85 minutes of zero current in an amazing section of Seymour Narrows.

After I went through my third flash of the trip....I resorted to taking pictures of slugs. Of course, I would have probably done the same thing even with working light!

The second time I've ID'd a Coopers dorid

Yelloweye, that photo with Jess and the GPO is absolutely amazing! That may be my favorite shot of yours and that is saying a lot. The composition, lighting, and colors are on point! Bravo.

And beautiful pics all the way around. Y’all killed it!
